ASVAB - General Science (GS)

In the General Science test of the ASVAB, you will find 16 questions, if you take the computer based version, and the total time within which you need to complete these questions is 8 minutes. If you will take the pen and paper version, then you will find 25 questions that you will need to answer in 11 minutes.

Question Modeling & Syllabi Brief

The following are the four concepts from which you shall have to face questions in this sub-test:

  • Earth science: Here you will come across questions on the Earth's atmosphere, laws governing movement of Earth, questions on Geology and tidal movements.
  • Biology: Under this topic, you will have to answer questions on basic Biology like cellular structure, classification of the plant and animal kingdom, ecology, bio-diversity etc. Other than that, a large number of these questions will be based on human physiology, like the working of the digestive, respiratory, muscular and other similar systems.
  • Chemistry: These questions will cover basic concepts of high school Chemistry, like periodic table, mixtures, compounds, equations, organic Chemistry etc.
  • Physics: The questions on Physics will verify your basic concepts like Newton's laws, heat, magnetism, optics etc.

The best method of preparing for the General Science (GS) sub-test is to practice and revise all that you have studied under Science in high school.
