GRE – Quantitative Comparison

Quantitative Comparison is one of the four question types that appear in the Quantitative Reasoning section of the GRE. The Quantitative Reasoning Section of the GRE consists of 40 questions in all, divided into two sections, each consisting of 20 questions. Each section will be allotted 35 minutes. You can expect a total of 12 to 13 Quantitative Comparison questions in this section of the GRE exam.

Question Modeling

As the name suggests, Quantitative Comparison questions require you to compute the relationship between two quantities that you would be presented with in a question. For example, you will be given a certain situation in which you shall have to compute the correlation between two quantities, say A and B. Following are the four answer options that exist for such types of questions.

  • Quantity A is greater.
  • Quantity B is greater.
  • The two quantities are equal.
  • The relationship cannot be determined from the given information.

Basically, although you need not arrive at a quantitative answer, you still need to compute the values in order to find the correlation between the quantities.
