The Most Preferred MCAT Test Centers

Medical College Admission Test, or MCAT, is an exam taken by medical school aspirants in the United States and Canada. It is the result of this exam that decides which health professions school they can apply to. Unlike other exams, registration for the MCAT can only be done online. The exam is conducted on several dates from January through September each year in test centers all over the world.Finding A Test CenterIf you are a resident of the United States, Canada, Guam, Puerto Rico or U.S. Virgin Islands, you will be considered as giving the exam at a nationalMCAT test center. Taking the exam at any other location would be considered as taking it at an international MCAT test center. In order to find a MCAT test center near you, visit this link – https://services.aamc.org/20/mcat-home/sitelisting. Choose state/province if you are looking for a national test center. Otherwise, go to the country drop down menu and choose your country. If you are an international applicant, you might not find a test center in your city and might have to travel to another city to take the exam. To get a test center of your choice, it is advised – especially to the international students – that you register for the test at least 60 days prior to the test.Preparing for ContingenciesThough your test center is not subject to change, there could be circumstances such as storms and cyclones in which it does. Therefore, you must be careful and provide up-to-date contact information so that you can be informed about any such changes. Most candidates also do a trial run of the test day by driving to the test center a day before the exam. This would help you to reach in time.Special AccommodationsEvery test center for MCAT tries to accommodate students with disabilities who might require special testing environments. Special testing environments include anything from carrying food or beverages in the examination hall to having extra testing time to testing in a separate room. Such students are urged to apply for these accommodations at least 60 days prior to their chosen test date. Here are some a list of the disabilities you could be suffering from to apply for special accommodations:

  • ADHD
  • Anxiety Disorder
  • Learning Disabilities
  • Diabetes
  • Mobility Impairments
  • Visual Impairments
  • Physical Impairments
  • Crohn’s Disease
  • Major Depression

To apply for special accommodations, a student must first create an AAMC ID. This ID awards a special 8-digit number to each applicant so as to keep track of students who have applied for special accommodations. All this needs to be done around 60 days prior to your chosen test date as you have time before the AAMC announces their decision and can work out the other kinks of your registration. If you have been awarded special accommodations, test centers will try their best to provide you with such accommodations and make your test-taking experience comfortable. This includes allowing you to carry food or beverage in the exam room, being provided with increased testing time, getting to test with a display that has bigger font, different type of mouse, providing a separate testing room, etc.Any more information about the MCAT can be found at their official website – https://www.aamc.org/students/applying/mcat-home/.
