SAT Critical Reading – Passage-based Reading

The Passage-based Reading questions are one of the two question types of the Critical Reading section. Out of the 67 questions that include two different question types, 48 questions are Passage-based Reading questions; the other question type being Sentence Completion.

Question Modeling

  • In this sub-section, you will have to solve 48 questions. Since, the number of questions to be solved is quite large, you should not be hasty in answering the questions. Read the passages carefully, and then understand what the question is asking you. After that, choose the correct answer.
  • You will also have to hone your reading skills. Learn to read fast and with full concentration so that you can incorporate all the required information quickly.
  • You will not be required to have any previous knowledge of the texts from which the excerpts (the comprehension passages) have been taken.
